SCRI-living technology

I recently was given a new brief for semester 2. It is interesting as I was given a fruit, I have to research this fruit in all different ways, maybe how it is grown, how it is used, what it can be used for etc.

This was no ordinary briefing as there was a guest from SCRI (Scottish Crop Research Institute) to talk to us. His name was Phil Taylor and his presentation was very interesting. I found out that SCRI is actually based on our doorstep, just outside Dundee near Invergowrie.

The world was entering a major economic downturn, Evidence of global environmental change is becoming clearer and population growth is also a global issue, with the demand for food expected to increase by 50% in the next 20 years. SCRI is Scotland's contribution to the search for solutions to these seemingly intractable problems.

I think it is really interesting what SCRI have done and what they are doing. I have also found out a lot of information about my fruit product for my project.
